Staff Notation Editor
Write sheet music on a real staff — clefs, key & time signatures, notes, rests and accidentals. Hear it, print it, export it.
How to type notes
C D E F G A B | Note letters. Add an octave number (scientific pitch, C4 = middle C). Default octave 4. |
C#4 · Bb3 · Fn5 | Accidentals: # sharp, b flat, n natural. |
w h q e s | Durations — semibreve (whole), minim (half), crotchet (quarter), quaver (eighth), semiquaver (sixteenth). E.g. G4h. Default is a crotchet. |
C4q. | A trailing dot makes a dotted note (×1.5). |
[C4E4G4]q | A chord — stack pitches in brackets, then the duration. Played together. |
Rq · Re · Rw | Rests — R then a duration. Consecutive quavers/semiquavers in a beat are beamed automatically. |
| · |: · :| · || | Bar line · start repeat · end repeat · final bar line. |
Write, hear and share Western sheet music
The Ajenza Staff Notation Editor lets you write music on a real five-line staff, right in your browser. Choose a clef — treble, bass, alto or tenor — a key signature and a time signature (including common time), then type notes with their durations from semibreve down to semiquaver, add rests, accidentals (♯ ♭ ♮), bar lines and repeats. The staff redraws live with correctly positioned note heads, stems, flags, dots, ledger lines and the key and time signatures. Press Play to hear it — the melody is synthesized live and the current note is highlighted — then export a clean printable sheet (print to PDF), a PNG image, or a MIDI file for any DAW or notation program. Every score can be shared as a link, with the whole piece encoded in the URL and no account or server.
