About & FAQ

Transliteration converts the sound of a word from English letters into a native script — it is not translation. Pick a language, type the way the word sounds, and the script appears live. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded. This is a phonetic tool: for tricky Sanskrit-style spellings, use the typing key above.

Is this the same as Google transliteration?

It works the same way — you type phonetically in English and get the native script. This one runs fully offline in your browser.

Why is a retroflex letter wrong?

Use capitals for retroflex sounds — T Th D Dh N for the hard consonants, and Sh for ष. Lowercase gives the soft dental letters.

Is anything uploaded?

No. All conversion happens locally in your browser.
